Gareth has created a series of work inspired by surfing and waves, and each piece created is named after a wave or a beach. In this case it is Kalk Bay in South Africa.
Gareth's sculptures are based on American west coast architecture called Googie. Googie architecture was born of the post-WWII car-culture and thrived in the 1950s and 1960s. Features of this style of architecture include upswept roofs, curvaceous, geometric shapes and bold use of steel and colour.
