The Overwhelm of Now

£3,500.00

By Raf Zawistowski

Materials: Handmade Oil, Wax, Ash and Spray Paint on Board

Dimensions: 60 x 70 x 5 cm

Year: 2020

My work combines traditional techniques from the Old Masters with contemporary art practices. I employ the time-tested methods to create my paintings, making my own gesso and oil paint using traditional pigments and ash from my fire pit. This process produces an astounding brown colour. I create a traditional impasto paste to achieve a rich texture in my paintings. Additionally, I use spray paint intended for forestry use, which lends a unique glow to my work. This paint is typically used to mark trees for preservation or removal, depending on the colour. I work on canvas, linen, and board - all mediums favoured by the Old Masters. This particular painting is created using oil and wax on canvas, with spray paint accents.
